This one’s on me...

I see this as my fault, a couple of years back I moved, and unlike our previous home our new yard does not have a large deck or outdoor living space. The first couple of summers in the new place I was too busy to improve the deck and create a nice area for lounging. This year however due to the pandemic, i have some extra time to get it done, i started a few weeks ago, doubled the size of the deck, and then this past Saturday I stained the decks and fences and got everything looking excellent, it was really perfect on Saturday to sit back on the new deck, no wind, and have an ice cold beer while BBQing, and I thought to my self, I should add a nice pergola to this area, with a canvas roof for shade and some fabric walls for bug protection or privacy, so Sunday morning, me and the boy headed to my favourite store, dropped a pile of cash on a pergola and even a few more bucks on a fancy hanging light fixture for inside the pergola, for those late nights of just hanging out enjoying the weather and a glass of wine.
So me and the boy immediately go to work on a beautiful Sunday morning assembling the framework, and installing it, we then decided to have a quick lunch break before installing the fabric room and walls.
Apparently while inside having lunch, my old friend Karma made a call to mother nature, and told her what was up, because when we returned to the deck it was like the 1996 blockbuster movie “Twister” starring the beautiful and talented Helen Hunt. I pretty much had to tie the son down to sturdy and freshly stained handrail to keep him from flying clear out of the yard, I seen my life flash before my eyes several times while perched on a step ladder trying to stretch the canvas over the framework.
However We did get it done, I beat mother nature, and both Karma and Her are pissed, I expect heavy winds in the south end of the city throughout the season.
Sorry....
