For goldfinch I buy thistle seed.
Blue jays I buy unshelled peanuts.
All the rest sunflower seeds.

Use sunflower seed in one feeder and nyjer seed in another . I also put out suet for woodpeckers and nuthatches and hummingbird nectar for orioles and hummingbirds.

there seems to be far less song birds this year at our place...no finches, orioles,nuthatches... the wrens didn't come back this year.....lots of woodpeckers, and sparrows , bluejays...I put out niger seed, peanuts, sunflower seeds...anyone else have a decline in songbirds?

When I went up to the lake this weekend a bear smashed up my bird feeder real good during the 4 days I was away. We had so many finches around before.

Would say that we have more songbirds especially in our pastures
