Does anyone know the reason the public washrooms are closed downtown at Princess park. Thought was because of covoid but skateboard park is open with no social distance being a issue ,and people gathering in park. Washrooms wide open in all the big stores so why is it when my kids go skateboarding and need the facilities they have to come all the way home to do so

Would you really want your kids using them in this pandemic.? I sure wouldn’t .  
They are not monitored or cleaned like the ones in a business.

I assumed that like most outdoor washrooms, it's not heated and therefore will only open later in the spring when there's no risk of pipes freezing... But I could be wrong.  
 
Having said that, I'd be hesitant to use it even when it's open given the state of many city parks. There is a ridiculous amount of trash and drug paraphernalia in many city parks, and while I and others do our best to dispose of it safely, it's almost a losing battle.

I was talking to the Security Guard that patrol downtown and I asked about the washrooms. They said every day they we’re getting vandalized and damaged every night. Also finding used needles in them. Not sure what they’re gonna do about it.

City should have known there was going to be vandalism and drug paraphernalia going on. It's DOWNTOWN. Just another complete waste of tax dollars and guarantee wasn't cheap

You should be supervising your kids and ensuring they ARE social distancing at the skate park.  
 
Obviously the washrooms aren't going to be open, there's a pandemic.

Here's a thought . . . cameras.  
 
I get that the police have better things to do than to babysit a public washroom. But there has to be a better way of addressing this than eliminating a much-needed restroom.

Which brings us back to that throughline problem of downtown that will only be solved by people caring enough to recognize it. Or to put it how many in Brandon seem to see it . . . what problem?

we can't have the police babysitting those washrooms nor can the security the city hired be there constantly when there are lots of other shenanigans happening downtown.  
 
What Problem? Ugh! According to the news affordable housing will be coming, next we all have to give them a car so they can have transportation and then they'll be all set, right? I like the thoughts of dishing out cash for others when my own pockets are dusty.
