I live on the north hill and the power was already out when I got up shortly after 6 am. Does anyone have any info on what may have caused it?

Is it just out on the North Hill?
Is the power also out downtown?

Power is out in the area of 8th and Victoria, and northward between 8th and 9th at least from what I can tell.

Was power restored in west end?

400 block west side of 3rd st. Is out, east side still has power...

No power west of Kirkcaldy Heights school. There are no notices of outages on MB Hydro’s site.

No power in university area. I live on 15th street by Victoria and haven't had power for hours.

I just called MB Hydro again and they have a recording stating that there are approximately 4000 customers affected in Brandon.
Apparently, it is a transmission line failure and they do have crews working on it and they’re asking for our patience!
Side note: I cannot find any recent info, does anyone know for sure if the labour dispute is ongoing with the IBEW?

Lights out right now and 4 way stop rules in effect at at 18th & Park along with 18th and Victoria (yikes). Avoid if you can, 18th and Vic is a gong show. If you go through and notice them back on and please update.
18th and Princess is fine along with 18th and Rosser.

Appreciate if we can stick to facts and stay out of theory territory in this thread.

Think we just had progress. Talked to one Corral merchant that just got power back in the last few mins after being out for quite a few hours. Noticed a lot of ppl waiting in cars for their store of choice. Can't speak to effect on any individual store, but guessing all will be good ASAP. Anyone else?

18th still out at both Park and at Vic, but fine everywhere else North and South of that. Noticed ppl at the window of seasonal DQ, so wouldn’t automatically assume any given business is effected.

Marlie-Ann Gawaruk posted this photo on FB about four hours ago, and think this may be the reason a ton of lines were lost cause. Not 100% sure, but they did say on news yesterday that additional salt, dirt, etc build up from winter was causing some fires on poles/lines lately, so hope that's the only reason why this one caught fire.
