My doctor would not refer me to get a Holter Monitor because of COVID. Is that true? Is there any other suggestions

I have a close friend who had a Holter monitor within the past month. It is ridiculous to suggest denying non-intrusive diagnostic testing because of Covid.  
 
I think you need to revisit this with your Dr and get to the bottom of why he or she won't make the referral.

My spouse had one last year.

Great … Another doctor suggested that I should wear a holter monitor for two days but I needed to ask my GP and he said no? His excuse was because of COVID

My wife had one fixed up in Russell Hospital about Oct last year

And no little knowledge of COVID 19.  
 
Do they really think they take it off some one and just use it again without proper cleaning?  
 
Beside they aren’t wearing it you are.  
 
Family Doctors I wonder if new ones are taught wrong or the old ones are too old.  
 
Is there even a retirement age for drs? If not there should be. Or at least a yearly review if they are still capable and up to date.

Is it possible Holter monitors are not currently going out due to staffing? Lots of nurses etc have been redeployed to other areas to deal with the surge.  
 
There also may not be anyone locally to read the results, which is a reason why we sometimes have to go to Winnipeg for certain tests even though we have the equipment here (this is the case with pediatric eegs, we used to be able to get them here until the neurologist who read the pediatric ones died).  
 
But it seems odd that the referral isn't even being made. At least you'd be "in line" so to speak.
