I’ve already been pretty clear in prev posts that our home will continue to mask in public indoor places until state of COVID in the province has improved further. I’ll of course respect anyones own decision within the rules in place, and at the same time between that burden on hospitals and the medical system and the potential impact on the especially vulnerable… anyone who goes as far as judging another for their decision to mask within this context isn’t especially worth the headspace. The one thing I’d point out to folks that are concerned about that sort of thing, people tend to overestimate how often others who are busy with their own lives and challenges bother casting that kind of judgement on others. Just by nature of how online and social media commentary works, some of it might seem more outsized online.. but most folks I’d like to think just want to live their lives and be respectful of others while doing it!

Personally will be making every effort to reasonably distance too. Conversations easily happen from a few feet away, will still shop in less than prime time when I can and will prob bring out the ole wide stance in store lineups if things are getting a little tight

I have deviated septum and can only breath thru one nostril. To boot, that wicked claustrophobic feeling sets in and having major body heat makes it even tougher to cover face.
But I endured it but ran in and out of businesses to make others feel at ease. You may find this funny, but when the security at malls was not near, (or business were empty), I just wore it as a "chin diaper".
If there is another wave, I will likely lose my sh*t and rebel. haha. (or have lots of deliveries done).

Home Depot is a good example of how a corporate is handling things.
Signage on the door has recommendations for store visitors including "feel comfortable wearing masks." Staff fully masked from what I could see, others visiting the store were probably somewhere from 2/3 to 3/4 masked.

Not sure where the discussion on masks went, but I’ll post here that I was happy to hear from my kids after school that all teachers were still wearing masks and most kids are as well.
Way to go kids! You’ve felt the enjoyment of a return to all your activities this year and know that a mask is a small price to pay to be able to continue to be out and about enjoying life. Let’s hope this school year can end on a positive note this year for once with the good attitudes kept up.

What a mess so many social media comment areas are over the last 24 hours. So many of the same extra loud but ultimately minority voices that have been investing so much time stirring the pot over the last year working overtime to try to make it seem like this is a COVID-over kind of thing. Thankfully we’re getting tone set by premier, city and so many businesses that are still emphasizing caution and respect in a masks-optional environment where Manitoba still has more hospitalizations than BC despite being about 1/4 the population and where we have a wide gamut of tolerances and health concerns.

My wife works at the co-op grocery store in Souris and the staff has chosen to continue to wear masks, and yesterday she said a lot of customers were wearing masks as well. There is a big difference in people from when masks were mandated, some customers were downright rude about having to wear masks, but now people seem to be a bit more understanding about others comfort level.
