We have always been fed this story of the russian bear and its military might, imagine the laughing stock you would have been 10 or 15 years ago if you had said russia would have stalled out while invading another country, especially a former republic of theirs that literally sits on their border.

The Soviets also stalled when they tried to take over Afghanistan, despite throwing more and more resources at it. They were even building schools and dams to try and garner the hearts and minds of the Afghan people.
