I have not recieved our second one yet. Apparently they are supposed to be out before the property taxes are due but we will see.

are not sent out until the month that your taxes are due. There was a previous thread, about a year ago.

Funny tho that media has considered it "newsworthy" when the time frame has not elapsed.
Given it is relying on the post to get the rebate out, time is flexible. I could adapt to a more "modern" delivery, online banking and all, wouldn't like it but if you don't pay the fare you can't ride the bus.

I took it that the uncashed cheques were those from last year, not the ones just coming out now. The same article also talked about MPI cheques, which would all be from some time ago.

PCs are trying to buy votes! This money needs to go towards the education system! Wish the general public could sit in a school for a week and see how our children and school staff need more resources and help!

We received this years Education property tax rebate today in the mail.
They only just started mailing them out. The ones they are referring to about being uncashed are from Last years rebate.

Might be seen as a bit of a shell game and would prefer the property tax bill just take the rebate amount into consideration from the start, but appreciate that after minuses are put against pluses we’ve paid what we’re supposed to have paid.

Mine isn't balancing out. The rebate I'm getting is less that the decrease in the usual credit amount from my property taxes. So it's costing me more this way.

You've prob checked it out already, but this page (link below) explains in govs words the why, the how, the how much, etc. Believe this year's should be 37.5% of the school tax portion of your bill with other considerations for seniors and farmland.... going to 50% next year not long before we're to go to the polls. Some pretty interesting explanations in the FAQ section to go into why they're giving you the emotionally stimulating experience of cashing a cheque from gov versus just getting a credit:
