I see now that the Sobeys West End property development has added a new tenant with Progressive . Whatever happened to the restaurant that they were supposed to build in the parking lot? At one time I heard it was A&W and also I heard it was Mr. Mike’s but neither have appeared. Anyone have any updates?

I believe A&W pulled the plug. Fast food industry is struggling, expect more to close for the upcoming year.  
 
I know FYI doctors are moving out of the mall and are going into the space next to Princess Dental.

I know FYI Doctors in the Town Centre is moving to the west end development, per one of the doctors there when I had my check-up recently, but I hadn’t heard that the mall location was also relocating there.

Well the dollar store sure seems to be doing well moving in there. What else would be a good fit?

In my opinion, gaint tiger needs to move into it, thats if theres enough sq.ft. their current location is very very small.  
 
I also think a bank is needed there, TD got a new branch, RBC has a newer bank. Its time BMO open a big new location.

I believe it was supposed to be a St Louis Ribs & Wings, which doesn’t make sense as there’s already so many places that do the same things like Swiss Chalet, Original Joes, Brown’s, Montana’s

I think the downtown public library/gallery should move there. There’s great parking and safer area. plus there is good bus routes nearby. I’ve had lots of discussions with various age groups who do not want to go to the downtown location and this would be a great location.

I agree with the Giant Tiger suggestion. Their store is way too  
crowded and turning left to get out of the parking lot is a nightmare. The Library would also be a welcome addition as well. I know Brandon has tons of restaurants but always wish they had an old fashioned diner like what Minot has. Pretty sure there’s room for that and the Sobeys and Dollar store employees could grab a coffee or snack there.

The city has been working on a plan to redesign the library in its current building. I highly doubt it will be moved out of downtown given all the work that has gone into that and given that its my understanding the city owns the building the library is currently in.

Also, accessibility. You can get to the downtown location on a single bus fare from most places in the city. Anywhere else would require 2+ fares depending on where you're coming from. Seeing how the library is supposed to be accessible by all income brackets, it makes sense to keep it in the area where it is.  
 
There is already a suburban option for the library - at the Shoppers Mall. If you're going to drive to the west end, you can just as easily drive to the south end. Sure, ideally we would have a branch in every quadrant, but that's probably not feasible until we hit 100,000-ish people.  
 
Same thing with Giant Tiger - while the store is small, the location is more accessible for those not having cars. Moving it means zero places to buy basic groceries between 9th St and 34th St. That's a long, long walk just for the chance to buy groceries.
