Has Shoplifting has got out of hand .  
I witness shoplifting at 3 different stores , and at one store I witnessed 3 people shoplift at one store , I even told the clerks and they said they couldn't do anything they even walked right be the clerk in the self check out !!! As I stand there paying for our groceries !!

I wouldn’t expect the workers to do anything, but I’m sure police could? Yes I see shoplifting a lot, just makes prices increase for us who actually pay.

Staff are instructed not to engage with shoplifters. They just call police, it is not worth a workers life to try and stop someone from stealing some merchandise.

I’ve definitely noticed an increase in shoplifting. They don’t even try to be sneaky about anymore. It’s crazy. One time I was at dollar tree and a staff member stopped 2 young boys as soon as they entered and said they weren’t allowed in the store. They left without a fuss so I assumed they were repeat offenders and knew she wasn’t going to deal with their crap that day. Good for her! I’ve also seen a plain clothed security guy at Walmart going through a shoplifters backpack. A handful of people were recording it on their phones. It’s annoying because theft just increases the prices for all of us in the long run

Why be sneaky when it’s a slap on the wrist for stealing! There is absolutely no consequences for theft. Why would an employee risk getting injured when nothing happens… Things won’t change until their is a change with the criminal code

.....I work in retail as a cashier, we are told not to engage them because they are unpredictable on what they will do. Most of them are on drugs and they act like they have every right to walk in, take something and walk right out....the most we can do is ask for a receipt but most just keep walking.  
Unless our justice system changes this will only get worse.
