building a granny suite in brandon

I am considering adding on a granny suite to my existing house in brandon...what would be my first step?

would I....

contact the city to see if it's allowed?

contact a builder? ( any recommendations)

I am looking for info on the first step with this without spending a lot of money to find out it can't be done...any help with this would be appreciated.

You need to make sure it’s legal first. Contact the city. If so, then get a permit

Secondary Suites

Their proper name is a secondary suite. If you Google "secondary suite Brandon mb", the first couple of hits are helpful pdfs from the city about the planning and permitting process.
