$50K to turn off train whistles

In today's paper I saw that people who moved into condos next to a train track that has been there for 100 years want the city to spend $50K to stop the train whistles - seriously??

You knew the tracks were there - how about you folks come up with the money if its such a bother!!

The whistle is a safety warning that there is a train coming.
Who will cover the liability if someone gets hit !
I grew up living by an airport, that was loud.

The whistles are being blown for a purpose, a safety reason. I live near the area concerned and do not have an issue with the whistles and I am closer to the tracks than the condo complex is. There are much better ways to spend the money than to satisfy a few.

rediculous is that?! A sain person doesn't sit in the middle of #1 hwy and expect serenity do they? You watched and listened to the trains going by when your condo was being built. The train whistles save lives! Including yours.

My house is close to the tracks. When I first moved in, I found them annoying but they quickly became something that I didn't notice as much. They'll adapt.

all of us to cover this cost is just not right. Let's put the $50,000 city money towards a new community pool or something that more citizens can benifit from. The building that is making the big noise. can pass the hat around their own residents if they feel the need.
