So I am married to a service technician who must go on call as part of his job. He received a call from a woman at 6:00 am who said her furnace wasn't working. The problem she had was that my hubby was sleeping but yet is on call for a 24 hour service company. YES, 24 hour service but the tech DOES NOT STAY BY THE PHONE ALL NIGHT!! She was so angry that he should be sleeping that she almost never told him the problem with the furnace. Her behaviour was ridiculous.
His schedule includes working 8 am - 5 pm then being on call for the week. We have two small children and I work full time. This particular Thursday he had gotten called out at midnight and never returned home until 3:00 am. This woman calls at 6:00 am and can't understand why he's sleeping. She was belittling him and degrading him on the phone and he had to coax her into telling him what the furnace was doing. He ended up talking her through and fixing the problem and SAVING HER $120!!
She then had the nerve to call HIS BOSS and complain that he was rude. So this cold season please take it easy on your service technicians.They usually work all day and then get the sleep they can, when they can. My mom was a nurse for 36 years and when she was on call she certainly didn't stay by the phone waiting to get called in.
By the way, this woman has a home based business that I won't mention on here but I sure do tell people when I see them just how unpleasant our experience was with her. Good luck to you lady, next time your furnace breaks down....if you talk to your techs like that all the time you will freeze your butt off!
