Thank you for supporting some youth
4/29/2009 at 6:40 AM
Saturday, April 25th found some young teens dressed in Air Cadet uniforms at many businesses asking for donations and handing out stickers or information about the organization.
The total collection broke the record and our expectations. Thank you.
By supporting a group like this you help to give teens an alternative to joining a gang. The money raised on Saturday will go towards additional activities that the national office does not budget for. There is a survival weekend in the fall and a drill competition in May that help to keep members interested and participating.
For those that did not see the cadets helping at the recent Rotary Book Sale, they will be at the Rotary Hazardous Waste Disposal on May 23rd. They are scheduled to be gliding on May 9th and at a drill and sports competition during the May long weekend. The final parade is May 30 at the airport which the public is invited.
With a schedule like this, they will not have the energy to be vandalizing property or harassing people. Cadets is definitely the gang more teens should belong to. By tossing your spare change into their containers on Saturday, you agreed.
Thank you again and watch this space for the list of awards recognizing these great teenagers to be handed out at the Annual Parade on May 30th.
