Mayor Gives State of City Speech
Building with Confidence.
That was the theme of Mayor Dave Burgess state of the city address.
The Mayor says they must keep pace with growth and predicts the population could hit 60 thousand in 15 years.
For the first time in years, downtown redevelopment wasn't prominent in the speech
Burgess also came out against using the downtown firehall for a museum, saying it would be too expensive a venture
The Mayor says Brandon is a safe city.
Burgess says we have the lowest crime level in over 30 years and total crime continues to drop, despite recent incidents including 2 murders in the past month
Burgess says there will always be incidents that are beyond anyone's control.
He says the city has more police officers now than ever before.
The mayor made his comments in his state of the city address.
If these were the major points in his speech, even though it is a condensed version, is there anything new or that we didn't know already?
