BPS weekend checkstop results

Came across this in this morning's BPS releases..
Anyone driving in Brandon over the weekend is probably aware that the police were conducting checkstops. Below are the results, including a breakdown of the the 88 offenses for the 1777 motorists stopped.

Operation Impact Results
October 09-12, 2009
Over the Thanksgiving Week-End, the Brandon Police Service held 5 RoadWatch Checkstops in support of Operation Impact. As well, regular Patrol members contributed with additional enforcement towards this Operation.
The results of the combined efforts are as follows, with charges for these offences as below. There were a total of 3 Impaired Drivers, 84 Highway Traffic Act offences and 1 Liquor Control Act offence:
Impaired Driving - 03
Speeding - 26
Seat Belts - 19
No Driver’s License - 12
No Dr. Liability Ins. - 05
Unregistered Vehicle - 06
No Veh. Liability Ins. - 06
Fail to obey Red Light- 02
Drive While Disqualified - 01
Driver on Learner’s Lic.- 01
Fail to Produce Dr/Lic - 01
Windshield Obstructed by Frost- 01
Substance on Window - 01
Fail to Display Plate - 01
Imprudent Driving - 01
Liquor in Vehicle - 01
Poss. Liquor under 18yrs- 01 (LCA)
During the 5 Checkstops that were held, a total of 1777 vehicles were screened. Police apprehended 26 motorists for speeding offences with the highest speed recorded as 99km/h in a 50km/h speed zone on 18th St. Police also charged 12 motorists for having no Driver’s License and 6 drivers for operating vehicles that were not registered/insured.
