Foster Care

I am fairly new to Brandon, and therefore somewhat ignorant to the prevalence of the use of the foster care system here.
I am planning for my future and looking into adoption options for a few years down the road but am also interested in being a foster parent.
What I am wondering is if there is a high demand for foster homes in Brandon? And also if anyone else has been/is a foster parent, and if they have any words of wisdom?
