Livestock Expo wrapup

Many wiill be aware that the Manitoba Livestock Expo was held this past weekend... I was just sent the following wrapup and thought I'd share:

Manitoba Livestock Expo Wraps Up
With the Prospect Steer Heifer Show and Sale
The Manitoba Livestock Expo wrapped up Sunday evening, after four days of cattle shows and sales. Over 400 cattle and 200 exhibitors filled the Westoba Credit Union Agricultural Centre of Excellence at the Keystone Centre.
Chairman of the Manitoba Livestock Expo, Jim Wilson, says he is very happy with this year’s edition of the Expo. “Yes this was a very good year. We wrapped up with the Prospect Steer and Heifer Show and Sale. I’m guessing that the average price for the steers was about $1,000.00, and one heifer brought $1200 and one steer brought $1700.00. I think people were pretty happy with the prices, and they were higher than last year.”
“The number of entries in the shows this year was about the same as last year, and the crowds were surprisingly large, especially with the unseasonably warm weather and delayed field work.”
“The Manitoba Livestock Expo is a great place for producers to showcase their product and network with peers and potential customers, and I think the exhibitors all went home happy.”
The Manitoba Livestock Expo is Manitoba’s largest all breed cattle show, hosted by the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba. It ran Nov 5 to 8th, 2009, and will return Nov 4 to 7th, 2010.
