Rear ender - what the heck!

So tonight at about 8:30 I was headed to the university and was stopped at a red light at Victoria and 26th. I was sipping my coffee when SMACK! My vehicle was hit from behind! Coffee spilled all over my chest.
So I signalled to turn off onto 26th to do the whole "exchange info." thing...and the stupid jerk takes off in the other direction, down the backlane on the east side of Giant Tiger!!
(He was driving a dark , fairly new pick up)
I was stunned to say the least. I called the police (did not dial 911)and they said not much can be done because I didn't get a license.
Now my neck is very sore and the bumper on my vehicle is messed up!
Not sure what to do!?
