"tie one on" magnets gone to far?

do people still understand the meaning of the "tie one on" ribbons anymore? i will put a yellow ribbon magnet on my car to support our troops, i will put a pink one on to support a cure for breast cancer, but i will NOT put one on my car because you love your bichon friese, your Pomeranian or your cat..i think the whole meaning of those ribbons is starting to lose meaning. what do you tie one on for?
