Random Acts of Kindness
5/29/2010 at 1:33 PM
Our home was one of many that had some sort of damage due to this lovely storm that came through this morning. My husband and I woke to the noise of loud wind, rain, cracking trees and the hydro going out at around 7 am. We looked out our window and noticed that our neighbors tree was swaying unusually close to our house but luckily did not touch it. Looked out the side window and found the source of the hydro going out. Our front tree broke one of its limb and fell onto the hydro line that's connected to the house and was hanging over my van along with the hydro wire. This hydro wire was strung over my van and the neighbors house but we still had power that is until Manitoba Hydro had to turn it off to fix the downed wire down the street on McDonald Avenue. The power was off for nearly 3 hours. Phone MB hydro this morning around 7:30 to tell them about the hydro wire over the van and am still waiting for somone to show up. Our neighbors tree was split down to the ground and would have fell onto our house with the next big wind storm. We had neighbors come with rope and chain saw to help trim the tree before it did fall. So to them we give a huge thank you for your help, who knows what might have happened if they didn't come to our rescue.
And the biggest surprise of all came when a total stranger stopped at our house and delivered 4 large Tim Horton's coffee's. They said they saw what we were going through this morning and knew our hydro was out and thought we could use some coffee. So my husband and I say to the people in the white Honda, THANK YOU!!! Your act of kindness will never be forgotten. Wish there were more people like you.
