soy and school (school snack list)
9/13/2010 at 10:52 AM
i know that this discussion has been on the board for a little bit and in a way i'm going off of that thread but kind of with a different topic.
in souris school children are not allowed nuts, eggs, fish, kiwi. i personally dont think this is a big problem.
my question is what happens if you are allergic to soy???
did you know that all bread contains a form of soy, canned soups, riz crackers.. and everything that lady posted in the other thread for a "safe list" for children.. there are several forms of juice that are made with soy. cereal is made with soy.. anything that has a wheat or an oil there's a good chance that it contains soy also..
now the reason that i'm pointing this out is that me and my daugther are both allergic to soy AND lactose... what are me and my husband supposed to do when she is ready for school.. send her to school with just an apple and HOPE that she doesnt take a snack or something off of her friends??? the schools are only able to do so much..
suck it up. help these younger students out, i honestly dont want to get a phone call home from my daughters school stating that they needed to take her to the hopsital because she ate a chip.
i challenge all of you who are complaining about the school alergy lists to really stop. go to your cubord and look at all of the food in there, then start taking stuff out.. read the list of ingreadiants on there and tell me with no doubt that there is no soy in it.
