Crosswalks/Lights/Victoria Ave.

I apologize if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here. And if this has already been brought up, once again, I apologize.
Anyways, I'm a student at Massey who has to cross the crosswalk near Tim Horton's on Victoria Avenue.
Most of the time when I get to the crosswalk, I have to wait forever to get somebody to actually stop for me, even when I'm crossing the next part, and even though people can see me, they don't seem to want to stop, which bothers me a lot.
Sometimes, one lane stops for me, and as I'm making my way across, someone in the other lane just speeds past and sometimes I'm afraid I'll get hit, because it has almost happened a few times.
I really think there should be lights around Tim Horton's, not just for students and pedestrians crossing, but to somewhat control the traffic. There's insane lines for the drive through a lot, and when you're trying to turn back onto Victoria and away from Tim's, it's hard because people are always trying to turn to go there, again, forming lines and more wait.
It's just something I thought about, feel free to disagree with me.
I doubt lights will ever be there anyways, but it would at least be nice if people could actually wait 10 seconds while someone crosses the street.
