How hot does an electric blanket get

Just received an electric blanket for christmas. I wanted to know how warm does the blanket supposed to get. I was expecting that the blanket would be as warm as a heating pad. It isn't. Is there something wrong with my electic blanket. It just seems to get a little warm at the highest setting and that is all i can get.
