Business Asking Me To Pay To Use Their Landline- Really???
12/30/2010 at 1:04 PM
This has been bugging me for awhile- so I thought I'd post it for discussion.
We recently visited an un named downtown hotel. We spent money there.
We wanted to call for a cab, but found that they no longer had payphones in their lobby.(they've never had a courtesy phone)
We asked at the desk if they could call us a cab- and they had the nerve to ask us to pay them 50 cents for them to make the call on their landline!
I've had businesses say "no public calls" etc when asked, but to actually be asked to pay was something else! I know phone service isn't free- but why make your patrons pay for it (ontop of the mark ups tacked on to the cost goods and services that we buy- isn't that markup supposed to cover the basic costs?)
Is this now becoming a common occurrance?
Whats next? Pay per use toilet paper?
