how can you compare an officer dropping someone's ID. with a teacher assaulting a student, let's keep it in perspective. Same thing for you george, quit blowing things out of proportion.

For myself... I do not believe this even happened. With so many people watching this or seeing this happen I'm sure this would be talked about by more than the OP. If it actually did happen, there is more to the story. If that is the worst thing that happened that day to those people I think they will be ok.

It might seem kind of rude to make them pick it up but its actually a safety issue for the cop to bend down to grab it. Defiantly need the rest of this story tho I'm sure he wasn't kicking them out because they were upstanding citizens

My line of thinking is authority brings with it a certain amount of responsibility, and for some reason there always seems to be a certain amount of abuse of the power of authority. Just in the last week we have had the report out on residential schools, where the people in charge of children did abuse them, then there is also the Catholic school abuse, or of we look to the south abuse by police because of race. Even look at a work place where bosses can be abusive of individual workers because they are in a way authorities.  
 
I guess the most obvious example, well in my mind anyways, is politicians, who we empower and after a few terms we have to pitch them out because power seems to cause a disconnect with the people. I believe that it takes a special type of person to be a good police officer, and screening usually weeds out those who would not make good officers, but sometimes personal conflicts can change a person.

Why did the police single out the 2 young men and not go and talk to anybody else. Dropping there id could have been away of the police officer saying you made my job hard, last time and I want to keep my job. There was a reason for checking out these 2 young men. It was not best thing to drop id and not pick it up in a public place. But, violence could of took place. Lets look at the incident in kemmany just recently, would you like to be shot at for trying to protect a family of abuse and violence or getting run over by a car because the person you are writing a ticket for speeding, does not want to own up to their mistake. Try and explain to the family of the officer that a their love one is not coming home because a JERK HAD A BAD DAY. I do agree incidents in the passed should have been dealt with differently. Life is not a bowl of cherries for a police officer or their families.

Police are paid to uphold the law in a professional manner and we should expect that from them. Being a police officer is stressful and hard work. It doesn't mean you drop the professionalism as soon as a tiresome or crappy situation comes along.

anyone consider they may of been liqour inspectors? they have badges as well and id people frequently at festivals. maybe these guys were kicked out before due to problems they were causing there at some point.

What Don does is much more dangerous than being a police officer. Farmer/rancher is number 9 on top ten of most dangerous jobs in Canada. Logger is number 1, policeman/woman doesn't make the list.  
 

Saw the police report the other day they arrested a half a dozen people all different incidences at he fair in one day all young people in there 20s or under on mostly liquor and probation offenses seems they have bean quite busy there.

If this really happened like you say, my guess is that this fellow had an order to abstain from alcohol and the officer was doing him a favour by allowing him to leave before being thrown in jail for violation of his order.

This type of discussion is a difficult one to have. There have been enough legit unanswered questions asked here (not the least of which being whether those alleged to be involved were even Police) that I wouldn't automatically take this posting as a reflection on the hard work that the fine folks at BPS do for us every day in order to keep us and this community safe.  
 
There's a segment of the population that looks for any reason to hate on Police and that can include taking details of stories such as what the OP has posted as gospel. Police in general aren't above making mistakes but I'm going to guess that accounts of misconduct far outnumber actual incidents of it and that that disparity doesn't make the job any easier. I'm glad to see so many folks asking questions. Personally my tendency is to trust that Police are acting in our best interests... Especially in the absense of something more factual to go off of such as multiple independent witnesses or perhaps even video.
