I just want to thank the gentleman driving the roofing trailer along Willowdale this morning. Thank goodness all that crap flew out of your untarped trailer, hit my windshield and woke me up. I may have drove straight through the traffic circle, up and over the curb hitting the flowers and shrubs.

Yes I am being sarcastic and yes I got the name of your company off the side of the trailer. No I won't be giving you any kind of recommendation, only negative talk.

Please next time think about other people on the road and all the liter that's flying out of your trailer. Please tarp your load!

Illegal to not have your trailers tarped. One phone call should have that driver straightened out as no company wants a fine or to pay compensational damages.

i also suggest phoning the company and see how they handle it, give them a chance to see if its the companies fault or they need to be warned that one of their employees isnt meeting their standards

Make a phone call they will receive a insecure load ticket and maybe an inspection.

From the law

Cargo securement — certain cargo
5(1) Any portion of a load of
(a) sand, gravel, crushed stone, ore, slag or salt,
or any mixture of them, consisting in whole or
part of particles 40 mm in diameter or smaller:
(b) waste: or
(c) shredded scrap metal:
that is carried by a vehicle on a highway and not
enclosed by the vehicle or a load container must be
covered with a covering that meets the requirements
of subsection (2).

Are materials that do not need to be covered. Unless it had a lot of stones. Been told that by DOT.

I read the section from the Highway Traffic Act and tarps apparently are not required as noted above. However, this is what the MPIC Truck Driver Manual says: When materials are unpackaged they are called “bulk.” For example, sand, soil, sod and wood chips are usually transported in bulk by a dump body-type truck. In most cases a bulk load must be covered with a tarpaulin and the driver must ensure the load does not fall from the
vehicle. Loads of snow, earth or mud do not require a tarpaulin when they are being transported as long as the load does not fall off the vehicle.

LOL - what is the difference between soil and earth? Gee officer, I'm hauling earth, not soil!

In *most* cases. It doesn't say that dirt must be covered by a tarp.

It all depends on who you talk to. We have been told to tarp every load and been told clay is fine. There could be three different DOT officers there and tell you four different things. "

i imagine the difference is in the definition of what is a lot of stones, basically if its flying out and bothering the guys behind you you need to cover it
