I'm looking to buy a new mattress and bedding for a decent price that won't cost an arm and leg....any recommendations for store so will be helpful...never gone shopping for a mattress so I it's a new thing for me.

If the price looks to good to be true, it likely is. These mega deals often have a warranty which is great but when you have to transport your bed to be returned for repair and wait for that you are without a bed. Most often it comes back and still is not great! Stay with a mid range price and well known manufacturer, it is much safer.

I bought a decent bed at Surplus Furniture 10 years ago (I was in Winnipeg at the time). Its still in great condition, its super comfy and they have good warranty with their stuff. I bought the royal comfort set... There are many different types there. I found them to be the least pushy salespeople and they have great layaway and payment plans too!

I bought mind at sleep country I really like it double . & they are easy to deal with .

has good quality mattresses at reasonable prices. We bought a perfect sleeper from Serta, it has been awesome.  

I was recently bed shopping and stopped at each place in town. When I went to Dufresne, they offered to do a personalized sleep assessment, which told me which type of bed was best suited to me by mapping pressure points based on how I usually sleep.  
 
They not only helped me find the perfect bed, but I found they didn't pressure me to buy the most expensive bed on display. I informed them of my max budget and they worked hard to keep me in that price range. Definitely impressed.

Don't buy a piece of crap just because it's on sale.  
I got a Serta "Pefect Sleep" from the Brick, best bed I've ever had. Waited until they had a half-price sale.  
It was part of the "Trump Collection". Figured if it was good enough for the Donald, it must be good!  

Use to work for a bed manufacturer.  
When it comes to a bed, the more your willing to spend the better the bed. A  
Cheap mattress has low quality materials it's made from. And it won't last longer than 5-7 years.  
If you can afford a queen bed near the 900-1500 range those are ideal. Look for the ones on sale that are regular priced 2500-3000.  
Go to the stores try out the beds, try plush and firm. Bring your own pillow from home even. A bed is a very personal choice and has to be taken seriously.  
If you buy the wrong bed it will cause you nothing but problems.  
And don't be shy to negotiate. There is an extremely high mark up on all beds. Some beds are as high as 80%. If you talk to the right person you can get a good deal, if the bed you like isn't on sale.  
If you buy a decent quality bed you'll get 10 year warranty from the manufacturer. And that will cover the life span of the bed. But some mattresses will last you 20-25 years.

The one thing to avoid: foam mattresses!!!!  
60-70% of them are returned within 5 years due to foam losing its ability to maintain its proper shape.

This is so true. Buy a good one.  
 
I have bought a couple from KDL Furniture Wholesale up on the hill. Prices are very good. Service and bed great.  
 
I've also never had to warranty a bed...

We went to Dufresnes and did that assessment thing. Best idea we ever had. The mattress we bought is the best we've ever had.

I'm with what mr. d said. Stay away from memory foam. It gradually loses support and ends up having body impressions.
