Wow, what a difference compared to a year ago. For a moment, we felt we were not in Manitoba as we neared the Peace Gardens. New pavement with some paved shoulders as well. For the first time in a long time, we did not wish we could get to the border quickly to avoid potholes and eroded shoulders.

My grandparents will love this. This was a big deal when we went to Bottineau a few years ago. Glad they finally got it done. Did they put passing lanes in as well?

I was just thinking it was time for a Bott trip....the new road sounds great! It was so horrible before and such a difference just over the border

There's still a couple pretty bad stretches north of Boissevain, but it's good to hear it's improving.

passing lanes have been added once you are past Boissevain. It is quite a nice stretch of highway now with only a few bad spots close to Boissevain.

Road Trip!

Time for a fall road trip to Bottineau!
And to fill up with cheap gas, heard yesterday that gas in the U.S. fell by about 10 cents a gallon.
Anyone know roughly how far it is from Brandon to Bottineau?

I only remember it being worse south of Boissevain. I don't get out that far very often.

Catman: Bottineau is about an hour and 40 minutes SW of Brandon. They even have a Super Walmart. :D

Bad exchange rate

Just heads up that the exchange rate right now is terrible. Pretty close to $1 Canadian dollar = 1.35 US. Might not be worth the trip if you expect getting a great deal on something unless you have some US cash stashed away.
