Saw a SUV today with a decal that said " Trucks are for girls". I hate to tell you, it's a SUV. Lol

that's interesting as I have a SUV and since it kind of bugs me when ppl call their SUV's a truck I call mine a car. Apparently I am wrong.

The word truck is sort of an ambiguous term, it can refer to many types of vehicles like light pickups and semi's to 240 ton mining haulers.  
 
Knowing that many SUV's are built on (pickup)truck chassis, could it not therefore then qualify as a truck?  
 
But no, any definition I could find says that a vehicle must be purpose built for cargo transport to qualify as a truck.  
 
Personally I just call what I drive my "car" even though it's currently an SUV, car is derived from motor car, which was derived from motor carriage, as opposed to horse drawn carriage, so really trucks, vans, SUVs, sedans, coupes, are all motor carriages, and so technically by that reasoning they're all cars.

It's not a truck. I don't care what chassis it's built on. And I think the sticker is clever.

Funny you should say that... I used mine all summer after I mowed my lawn to haul a metal garbage can full of grass clippings to our local compost site (which is only a block from where I live) but still used it like a "truck" I suppose then.  
I refer to it to the kids as the enclave or vehicle "get in the enclave/vehicle" never have said get in the SUV lol

What about pickup trucks with toppers compared to SUVs with the back seats taken out, they basically become the same thing.  
 
If someone would still define the pickup with a topper installed as being a truck, then they would have to also define the SUV with seats removed as a truck too.  
 
So it really becomes a grey line about what's what in that case, and therefore the point of the sticker would have been more clear if it was on a sports car or something.  

Everyone knows the basic construction differences between a truck and an SUV. Regardless of what attachments you put on it, a truck is a truck and an SUV is an SUV. If it has a truck box on the back, its a truck. If you think an SUV is a truck, you are being delusional.

The only suvs that are built on truck chasis are the larger ones like the suburbans and Yukons. 90% of the suv's that are on the roads today are of the rav 4/buick enclave/terrain/hundai santa fe etc etc variety, that is, lighter built with an independant rear end. Light duty trucks (what you would consider 1/2 tons to 1tons)tend to be built heavier, with a solid rear axle for loads to avoid severe cambering.  
 
The Suv's mentioned I consider closer to cars than trucks.

SUV stands for sports utility vehicle. So I say no way to station wagon. lol

Is just another way of saying WOTT. Wagon on tall tires! Sorry, minivans, SUV'S, SAV'S are all just variants of station wagons. Not knocking them, I love wagons, just calling a spade a spade!

When I think SUV, truck chassis 4x4 vehicles come to mind. They're basically pickup trucks with a permanent topper and extra row of seats. Like GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition, etc, or on the lighter end, the Chev Blazer, Ford Broncos, 4runners etc of the past. Previously owned an H2 that ate half tons for breakfast.  
 
Any other type of "SUV" like what was mentioned I just call crossovers, SUV x minivan or SUV x station wagon/car. They have AWD instead of full 4x4, no ground clearance. There's not much utility to them anymore.
