Anybody know what was happening on Aurora Cres in Brookwood earlier? There were ambulances, fire trucks, and police in front of a house. There is yellow tape along both sides of the driveway and there looked to be some people (possibly Hydro?) working on something on the side of the house.

a gas leak if Hydro was there.  
 
scratch that notion, check out bdn sun twitter by Ian Hitchen! Apparently someone was using butane to extract hash oil from marijuana.

Was on couch watching tv heard it thought maybe was a tire in the yard that blew lol opened door could hear sirens said that maybe was a gas leak wasn't long ago happened in Virden so u never know wat it can be

The Brandon Sun story online has been updated and says 20 pounds of pot was found in the house :S

They find 20 pounds of marijuana and they release him with the "promise to appear" for court??  

20 pounds well looks like he'll have time to do the repairs when is on house arrest

Thats a pretty low blow, people that live in the area are no different than anyone else in brandon, It's pretty disrespectful to make such a generalization based on the neighbourhood we live in. we all put our pants on one leg at a time regardless of our choice of community

This incident sounds very familiar to a couple of summers past where a couple of guys were doing the same thing....

Maybe hit them where it hurts and the MB govt should seize the house. They could get almost half a million selling it off in a MB Sherriffs seized property auction. Put the money towards drug enforcement, and drug addiction and awareness programs.

Your plan is to auction the house? By the time the auction happens the 20 pounds of pot would be legal.

After see how seizure of property is working out in the US I would want to stay away from that they are seizing property just for suspicion you don't even need to be charged

except for the fact that it is a higher class of housing there so you would not expect it to happen in that neighborhood

Sure the house should be seized if he owns it, but what if he is renting it?? Quite frankly, if he does own it he likely doesn't own the house outright, the bank does! They would be the first payee in the event of seizure.
