who fixed gps or knows about them

I have a garmin gps I use it for work so have a bunch of roads saved on it I went to Alberta and it started freezing up so when got home tried fire it up it still shows last place is Alberta it finds the satellite shows where we are then freezes so restart and it back in Alberta again tried hooking it to the computer to upgrade but won't hook to it. hooked up our other garmin and it updating but mine won't any suggestions wanna try and get my roads saved off it at least
