Sorry for the rant ebrandon, but I'm so disgusted with the human race and the individual who felt the need to steal my Christmas present...  
 
Also a special thanks to Canada Post and USPS for making this possible and then blaming each other saying it's the others responsibility and out of your hands.  
 

That is horrible.Im surprised it doesnt happen more often.I deliver for one of the most popular companies and its always a concern.Also many people are confused about the policies etc. So many parcels are to be left at door with no signature.And i encounter many people in my day that are under the impression its my choice!It isnt! It is always the shipper.The barcodes and hand held delivery devices tell us what to do.And the fact of the matter is that all courier companies charge a much cheaper rate to ship with no proof of delivery.So almost everything gets sent that way.People are upset to come home and find their expensive parcels(even big screen tvs )sitting on the step when they come home after work.Most are not expecting that and assume the delivery guy didnt do his job.I for one try to make my parcel deliveries as inconspicuous as possible,but it can be a challenge.Its hard to keep everyone happy.I miss the days when i greeted my customers with a "good morning" and actually interacted.Now we are expected.. to place the package,ring the bell,knock and hustle to the next delivery.Now all i see are confused faces walking out on their step as im already driving away! its all about productivity.Anyways sorry for the rant.I feel bad for you and i think this is why so many people are getting security cameras.People are no longer good.

Really sorry to hear this, is has to be disheartening when a thief is willing to do this sort of thing.  
 
Looking forward to the day that products like the one at the link below are available at a slightly more reasonable price... If it works as planned it has a chance to put a dent in this sort of crime:

I receive a fair amount of parcels and so far I've been lucky! I've had a few things left on the doorstep but now that I work from home it's not too bad. There are times they just ring the doorbell, leave the package between the doors and leave (which is fine as I answer the door before anyone can steal it) or he waits for me to answer the door, which is SO nice!! So to the man in the black truck with a cap on it, THANKS!! I appreciate you  
 
Op, I hope you can resolve your issue and get your item!!

How easy it would be to become a "Porch Pirate". Just follow the truck in a nondescript vehicle and wait for a big payout to be left out in the open. With all the guarantees/warranties and the tracking services available... all of it is useless when some sneaky $h!+ simply walks up and takes off with your order. Oh, looky, looky... a big screen TV box with the words SONY printed across it just sitting out there in the open. I suppose the only thing we can do is check on the shipping options or pay extra for the delivery insurance before completing out order. Or if you have a "good employer relationship", you can have the more pricier stuff delivered to your workplace if you can get their permission. ...Just a idea for some.

Here's an option you can look at. I've signed up for it. It's a delivery address that goes directly to a Flexdelivery post office. In Brandon, right now it's the Shoppers Drug Mart on Victoria.

Unfortunately CP has gone the way of every other corporation...the priority is not about service anymore.. it's only about profitability.  
 
They are so out of touch with their customers that the CEO figures ending door to door is good for seniors getting more exercise.

when you order anything online etc. in the shipping instructions type in/check off "do not safe drop" you will then get a notice on your door telling you where your package can be picked up if you are not there to receive it. Also, with standard shipping insurance, Canada post will only cover the first $100 of the purchase price of the item and it's a huge fight to get it.  
 
You can also choose "do not safe drop" as the shipper when sending parcels.  
 
Sorry for your loss, been there too & learned some lessons.

I just moved to Brandon in September so I'm not familiar with city parcel delivery, though I was told if you live in an apartment building without a front desk/on duty manager a delivery slip would be put in the mail box telling you where to pickup the parcel (example 7eleven).  
 
So I'm not sure what happened, all Canada Post can tell me is that it was delivered...just not to me. Also to clarify, the parcel was a Christmas present sent to me from a friend in the US, it wasn't something I ordered.  
 
Still a little bummed about this.

I have to agree with the O.P. Last year I came home to 8 parcels stacked on top of one another right on my doorstep for all to see. Having had my car broken into twice I guess I was lucky no one took anything. Most of these parcels were gifts from family in Europe and cost a fortune to send, so I was quite angry. This year, I've been home when Canada Post have come to my front door and dumped parcels without so much as ringing the doorbell. C'mon I know Christmas is busy but do your fricken job right. I know I do what I'm paid for. I also regularly get oversized packets stuffed into my mailbox and damaged, rather than placed in the large lock box. Certainly not a good service.
