So I see that our esteemed leader is going to be on the view today.  
Talking about mental health.  
MMMMMM.  
So now he is a physiologist now.  
Shouldn't he be working on our economy and getting people working instead of doing tv programs.  
In my opinion this man has dug himself a huge hole that he isn't going get out of.  
Selfies, now opening up relations with Russia and Putin .  
Putin has no friends left and reached out to Trudeau, took it hooh line and sinker.  
Thoughts on him playing Dr. Phil?

not sure he should be wasting his time on the View, but his mother has battled mental health problems all her life, so he may have some insight on it.

Completely thrilled with the first 100 days of this new government, I think you are missing what this is truly about.

I actually find it kind of refreshing that he is boosting this campaign by showing his support. Nice he is worrying about a problem effecting Canadians for once.  
 
Is he a bit of a media hog? Absolutely. But is it not nice to see a PM that is at least trying to relate to problems facing the "common folk" after so many years of a PM who hated the spotlight and thumbed his nose at events like this?  
 
And yes, Brenda is correct - his mother is to this day quite mentally ill. I cannot recall if she is bipolar or has manic episodes, or what the true nature of her troubles are. I do recall a story telling of how her episodes had to be hidden from the press when she was the first lady.

I think you got it wrong. He's on the social today talking about mental health. Unless the American show "the view" is having the same topic too. I could be wrong. I think it's awesome our pm is wanting to reach out to Canadians about this issue. I know thats something that is important to him is talking and reaching out to Canadians to better our country. I have the highest respect for him.

I don't think this has anything to do with physiology. He is just as qualified to share his life experience with mental health struggles as anyone, and will bring a lot of awareness amd acceptance to the topic.

Seeing as how the federal government has lots of political staff as well as government employees working on the economic issues every day all day I for one don't find issue with our Prime Minister taking a bit of time to talk about mental health today on "bell's let's talk day". Some of the issues from the current economic state is suicide, mental stress and depression... So would you not say he is bringing attention to some of the important issues linked to the economy....

I really hope you both meant 'psychologist'.

I for one have no problem with him going on any media and talking about mental health issues, especially when he can talk about it from a personal experience. I would doubt that there are many families who are untouched by someone with a mental health problem yet it is less likely to be discussed the same as other diseases such as cancer, heart problems etc. When so many of society's problems stem from mental health problems and there is a huge lack of resources to deal with it, I am glad people are talking. We need to take the stigma away from mental health issues and talk about it openly.

A lot here link mental health issues to employment.  
Why wouldn't he be putting employment ahead then.

I agree that unless he is giving counselling or advice on medications etc, him speaking about mental illness fits in with 'let's talk day'. After all, Clara Hughes is the 'face' of the campaign, and she isn't a psychologist/ psychiatrist/ etc. The whole point is that it's okay for EVERYONE to talk about it!

I am glad the PM is talking about Mental Health. He has personal experience of a family member with bipolar disorder, and many Canadians share these kind of experiences. It's good to see that understanding shared by our public servants. You don't have to be a psychologist to have something to say about mental health, nor do you have to be a vocational counsellor to talk about employment! He's done more positive public outreach in ten weeks than Stephen Harper did in ten years.

I think he has always wanted to be on TV, but his acting career didn't pan out, so this is his way to get on television. Frankly though, regardless of my political leanings I feel like there should be a separation between politicians and non political talk shows.

It is sort of sad that at times we have to politicize everything. Mental health is something that affects many families, and it can affect a family, or individual, in so many different ways. It causes a loss to families or if a person looks at it with an open mind it causes a loss to the country as well. The PM was asked questions about what he would like to try and do, he did state his ideas, which if nothing more might be a starting point,

It might be that everything he does is politicized because his first 100 days has been othing but self is and media whoring. Is he not the leader of Canada what has he done for Canada. Oh right 25000 serials by Christmas. That present never made it under the tree. The last guy said it couldn't happen who was right. Energy east at least the liberal mayor of Montreal is being promised his financial kick backs before the thought of moving canadian oil to the maritime is allowed. Heaven knows there is no environmental impact of middle east oil on the environment.good thing we as a country support those great civilizations that believe in gender equality like Saudi Arabia.

Obama has been on the late night talk shows and comedy shows. Times are changing.

The problem is I see it CONSTANTLY against Trudeau when next to none of this happened against Harper. If there was complaining it was over an issue that actually hurt Canadians. No one has even given Trudeau a chance yet and nit picking the minor things just makes a person look like they are complaining for complainings sake.

I never hear anyone complaining that the Royal Family has an instagram or youtube account. Probably because Kate has better hair.  
 
Seriously tho, why get your panties in a bunch over this? Like someone above said - times have changed, the old ways of hiding in an office is gone. Get.Over.It.

A psychologist or psychiatrist deals with mental health issues.

..... Is that we have so many voters who identify with individuals in government rather than the Parties as a whole. In my opinion the " I hate Trudeau....." , " Harper makes me sick because....." crowd is entirely made up of immature, apathetic voters .

I agree with Adams view. The Jury is still out in Justin in my mind. He and his crew are newbies. We need to let them find their feet.  
 
Overall though it does look like it will be a interventionist party that has no issue with collecting a tax dollar and spending a buck fifteen of it .  
 
They are pro trade and that is a good sign. I find the Liberals so far have only undone what they did not like from Harper but in most cases have not addressed the reason or found a answer for the problem it solved.  
 
This new Government adapts . Ask us just before next years budget. Maybe right after this next one. Hard to read a Government from promises and platitudes.

The whole intent of yesterday was to bring awareness to mental health and how it can have an impact on individuals, or families,or society. If you were to ask me if I think it is a problem, my asnswer would be yes. Given the stigma that is quite often attached to mental health we seem to avoid talking about it or taking action on it. Is having the Prime Minister commenting on it wrong, don't think so, especially given the fact that it was something that was dealt with in his family. There have been a few comments that sort of steriortype mental illness, ideas that a better economy would make it disappear. If money,work or jobs could make it disappear, the death of Robin Wiliams would be hard to explain.

I second Don's opinion. The PM was involved to raise awareness due to his family having dealt with mental health issues, his wife (eating disorder) and his mother (bi-polar disorder). I think it was very noble of his to speak out on the topic. We need that from a leader.

Of course a better economy will not make mental illness disappear,but it may help some.  
 
I struggle daily right now - to even do the simple task exhaust me. I have a lot of resources, but had to search the out. My depression is a chemical imbalance, nothing to do with the economy, but I am sure it has an affect on some with a mental illness (there are so many types)
