I have had 3 texts in two days from scammers anti g to buy something from me yet can't pay cash or show in person . +1(864)916-2041 thought I'd give the heads up

It's really easy to google a phone number. That one is in South Carolina. That would be a big red flag for me.  
 
A person always has to be vigilant and use common sense, combined with technology.  
 
I won't deal with anyone who is not somewhat local and can meet in a busy public area.

What is going on? I have a couple items...specifically a Travel Trailer and a 5th wheel hitch, for sale. I have been getting texts from people in Florida and Kentucky wanting to purchase them and have them shipped. One wanted to send me a cheque...one even wanted to pay me through PayPal. The third, once i looked up the area code, i didn't even respond to.  
Something is fishy. Im assuming scammers. Is anyone else having this happen to them? How do would you know if these are legitimate people. I can kinda understand with the value of the dollar...maybe it is cheaper for them this way. I just don't want to get ripped off.
