Looks like the mounties are doing their job folks.  
 
Judge Charged With Impaired Driving Near Carberry  
 
 
A Manitoba judge will appear in a Brandon court next week after being pulled over while driving drunk near Carberry over the weekend.  
 
Provincial court Judge Michel Chartier has been placed on leave after being charged with impaired driving.  
 
He was stopped by RCMP on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Highway #5 at 1:30 in the afternoon on Sunday.  

Was it Steven Seagal who stopped the judge?  
 
Seriously though, it is nice to see an "elite" get charged.

nice, not the the judge was driving impaired but that for once the rcmp didnt use their desecration to let him get away with it

Does it really matter? So a judge is going up against a judge for drinking and driving! Probably gets a slap on the wrist from his peer!! And I bet his leave from work is still paid for by taxpayers!!

It matters that he was caught and charged. What also matters is he will have his day in court like any other citizen. His paid leave has nothing to do with the charge.

it seems he has stepped down and quit, i guess after this he had no choice.

Gotta feel sorry for the guy though. Imagine being in court every day hearing in detail every terrible thing people do to each other and with no good to balance it out, has to be pretty depressing especially when kids are involved.  
 
Not saying he should not receive the penalties for his actions, just feel sorry for him in the situation. Not everyone loses a lifelong career over something like this.  
 
Again of course he is guilty a and should not have done this. Drinking is a cruel crutch to deal with life.

for him, he is guilty without any excuses.  
But I see it this way, something must have made him to do that, with the fact that he knows very well the punishment associated with drink driving and his position as a Judge.  
Of course he must have preceded over drink driving cases more than one or two in his career.  
Watch out this guy must be going through a difficult time before been caught.
