Interested in hearing from anyone who has used this form to obtain tax rebate especially on items purchased over internet and shipped to Border Services at Dunseith. Also, any rebates on tax on alcohol purchases from ND. Thanks.

Qualifying invoices must include $25.00 of taxable items per receipt. The receipt must contain a description of the purchase, including the seller's name, the amount paid for the goods, and the date the goods were purchased.  
 
Requests must include at least $15.00 of refundable tax, per request.  
 
Qualifying purchases (which may consist of multiple items on a single receipt provided the total taxable amount exceeds $25.00) may be accumulated during one calendar year to reach the $15.00 minimum request.  
 
All receipts submitted with an item that is not picked up at the time of purchase will require proof of export. Examples - A Menards receipt with an item marked "Pick" or a Lowes receipt with an item marked "Pick Up Later". A copy of the customs document received at the border crossing will be sufficient proof of export.  
 
Receipts must be submitted within 3 years of the purchase date to be considered for refund.  
 
Returned items must include the original and return receipts to be considered for refund.  
 
Only receipts for purchases made within North Dakota qualify.  
 
Items consumed in North Dakota, such as hotel accommodations, restaurant receipts and admissions to events, do not qualify.  
 
***Purchases made over the internet must include the screen print or e-mail identifying each item and the original packaging slip identifying the items received in North Dakota. Only items identified on the screen print or e-mail and packaging slips will be considered for refund. Without a packing slip, the export document received at the border is required to verify that the items were taken into Canada.***  
 
Purchases of boats and other motorized vehicles must include a copy of emport documentation identifying that the purchased item is being removed from North Dakota and taken into Canada for exclusive use in Canada.  
 
 
- I didn't see anything specific in regards to taxes on alcohol, I assume that if it is the 7.5% tax that is charged at other stores it would count towards the refund. The worst that will happen is that they will send the offending receipt back with your cheque and say why it wasn't accepted.

Many times. I cannot recall if they do allow it on alcohol, but I am fairly certain they do.  
 
They will NOT return any receipts though, even if disallowed, so make sure you copy any you send them if you need them.  
 
The website will actually kick out any receipts as you are entering them if they do not qualify, so it is not that easy to screw up.  
 
Cheques are about 6-8 weeks out, but it is nice to get it back.  
 
As for the border services question, it is only for items purchased IN North Dakota, so not sure if that would be used much. Unless you are buying from say - Costco in Fargo or something like that. Never tried claiming any of those....

I have had success with claiming taxes back on parcels sent to Border Services. However, you need to have the minimum $25/receipt to qualify and have to send them the receipt and packing slip from the package to show you've taken the item out of US. If I didn't receive the packing slip, I'd include the tax paper from the Border showing the total purchases I brought back across the line. I haven't had any of those bills denied a refund so far.  
 
I've only used Amazon.com bills as when you ship to Border Services, they charge you the tax for Dunseith, so when you type the receipt information, you'd select Dunseith as the city.  
 
They are helpful if you send them an email and ask for clarification, that is how I found out how to do the online purchases.
