I have some spare time on my hands over the next little while and am looking for somewhere to volunteer in brandon. I have looked in the "volunteer" section under jobs and did not find very many current ads. I am looking for either a business or a non profit organization that needs some help during the week days. I am relatively new to Brandon, so I have no idea where to begin my search. Thanks!

If your interests are animals, the Humane Society is on the far south-east corner of Brandon 17th Street East close to Patricia Avenue.  
 
The Hospital has some volunteer places, I recall them sitting by the reception at the front door and escorting people to their destination rather than just giving verbal directions.  
 
The Soup Kitchen (Helping Hands) is on Seventh Street across from the library and they may need your cooking skills to prep the meal served at noon.  
 
If you have a (child abuse?) registry certificate or whatever the document is needed for working with vulnerable people, there are Personal Care Homes that might need extra hands or eyes. Reading to a resident that can no longer see is a priceless gift.

Volunteer with the lions club. They're always looking, especially for young blood. They are a service club who's main thing is raising money for the blind whether it be corneal transplants, research, glasses for those who can't afford it, raising money for training dogs, etc. And a lot of the things they raise money for I s also local like a family that lost everything due to a house fire etc. It's a great way to meet people young and old, and to help out the local community.

For the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life 2016. We need help with sponsorship and team procurement, as well as volunteer help on the day of the event(June 18th from 6pm to 1am at the Brandon Sportsplex outdoor track ). This is the flagship fundraiser for the CCS, and this year is shaping up to be one of our most exciting events yet. You can reach us by emailing Brian or Deanna at relayforlifebrandon@hotmail.ca.

will be looking for volunteer help in the areas of concessions, security, merchandise, and as actors during our own Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer Halloween Yard Haunt and Maze Event from October 28th-30th from 6-9pm and October 31st from 6-11pm. This is one of Westman's biggest haunt attractions, bringing in over 3000 visitors from across Manitoba over our four day event.
