I too monitor my usage diligently. Usually, NetSet is very accurate with my router for usage. However, the other day, they were about 3 GB under what my router reported, and I trust what my router is reporting.
Your router should be able to track your usage. I think even the basic firmware on store bought routers can do this. With custom firmware, such as DD-WRT or Tomato, you can track which devices are using the data.
We upgraded our plan so that we can watch Shomi or to stream videos. We plan on cancelling our Shaw soon, so the money that we save from Shaw will pay for the better Internet plan.
