Just wondering if anyone else out there has had significant increases in data usage since moving to the new LT system. We are 5 days in to our monthly plan and are being told we have used 49 gb. Had to pay overage last month too. Never been this high at this time- occasionally at the end of the month. There are 2 of us in the house and we don't watch Netflix. Doesn't make sense.

We're not even half of a 60gb limit. If you were on the 4g before though this will be combined of 4g and LTE as I believe they bill by calendar month. You can check you use online. Definitely not noticed any increase with us. No Netflix either.

Is your network secure? Maybe a neighbor is using it.

When we first got netset to set us up i didn't think we'd need a password as we live in a town with a tiny population. within 7 days we were almost at our limit and hadn't hardly used internet at all. I called netset and decided to put a password on our router. After that we were fine so if you don't have a password try setting one!! Loving the new lte btw we hardly used any data this month!

We have also had the same issue. I track my usage diligently. Sometimes we were hardly even on it and we used like 4 Gb?! the next day we used it quite a bit and our Gb was lower?  
We dont use netflix (sure wish we could) and we are password protected so no one is on ours.  
Before we switched over i also watched our plan so Im pretty up to date with our usage patterns.  
there is something definelty wrong with their tracking system.  
does anyone know of any device we can use to prove this indefinelty? If so i would love to purchase it.  
its really crappy that rural users have no other options for internet...as I said i would love to be able to watch netflix or stream videos without paying an arm and a leg for it

Even if your not using it and nobody is using it your still possibly using your data. You cant forget that if you have a windows computer its basically updating 24/7 downloading large files without you even knowing it.  
 
Updating apps on your phone or tablet? Thats using data to download new update files as well. Multiply by that by how ever many phones tablets laptops desktops etc in your home or friends popping by....  
 
your using alot more data than you think.  
 
Try turning off windows updates or make it show they are available but not to download them without your permission.  
 
Once a smartphone or tablet is reconnected to wifi it will generally start to do any updates it finds to be available. Maybe disable your automatic updates on your wireless devices as well if your concerned about your data usage that you cannot find.  
 
Its not always Netsets fault.

I too monitor my usage diligently. Usually, NetSet is very accurate with my router for usage. However, the other day, they were about 3 GB under what my router reported, and I trust what my router is reporting.  
 
Your router should be able to track your usage. I think even the basic firmware on store bought routers can do this. With custom firmware, such as DD-WRT or Tomato, you can track which devices are using the data.  
 
We upgraded our plan so that we can watch Shomi or to stream videos. We plan on cancelling our Shaw soon, so the money that we save from Shaw will pay for the better Internet plan.

turned off our updates for our phones and my laptop gets shut off as well and now do that at our work places. We also turn our wifi off at night on our phones just in case.  
Im just saying that it is strange that before we switched over to the LTE I know what we were using and we did go over our usage sometimes but that was usually during holiday periods when we were home all day.  
Now with the lte our GB is more than what we previously had and suddenly we are topping out with that and go over? I find that a bit strange? We choose the bigger plan so I wouldnt have to monitor it as much.  
I would love to watch the shomi and that but Im not sure what kind of a plan Id have to get to do it?

If you dont mind me asking what kind of a plan do you have?  
We are using the 180Gb LTE right now.  
Do you stream a lot of shomi and or netflix?  
Is it a single family home or do you have children.  
Just checkin to see what some options are!

Have been going over the limit the last couple or 3 periods, with no change in surfing habits. And not just just a little, it's amounting to an additional $30 on my bill.

We upgraded to the 120 GB LTE plan recently. We haven't done a lot of streaming yet, just haven't had the time. Most of the time, it is just the two of us here. We aren't even going to be close to our limit this month, way under.  
 
I have Tomato on my router and I can certainly tell who the bigger user of data is, especially when my step daughter and her hubby stay with us for a weekend. Tracking by device is handy when you suspect one device is using lots of data. Maybe it has a virus that you aren't aware of? It helps to figure it out.

something you download from the internet? if so what is or was the best site to do so...
