Has anyone ever booked a hotel from Expedia under the "mystery hotel"? It's a reduced price but the catch is they don't tell you the hotel name and once it's booked you can't cancel.

Haven't booked on Expedia but have done same thing with Hotwire and Priceline many times. Always happy with what I got. You can choose what you want such as pool, breakfast, gym. The only catch is that it is non refundable.

I used their "Mystery Hotel" for a hotel in Montreal last year and it was the same hotel I got from a Hotwire deal the year before, which was fine with me because it was in the exact neighbourhood I wanted to be in, close to the main metro hub and near lots of great restaurants and events. If you aren't picky when it comes to hotels, I suggest it, the rooms are always clean, friendly staff and so much better than paying up to 3x more per night, which adds up if you're there for several days.  
 
When i booked my most recent trip, Expedia's Mystery Hotel deals no longer show up, so I ended up with using Hotwire.
