notice do they need? Anyone that has been in the patch for any length of time would have seen this coming for about 2yrs now. After Halliburton shut down Regina it was only a matter of time before Trican would have to shut their much smaller operation down in Brandon.
People should have started slowing their purchasing down about 2yrs ago, when it started to fall out and when oil companies started selling off their land. If people were still spending this past year when it's been as dead as it has been and with many oil companies (across Canada) scaling WAY back on the drilling budgets, they sort of deserve what's coming. As someone who is dealing with cut backs and scaling operations down to keep as many people employed as we can, it sucks but the writing has been on the walls for a LONG time now. And these cut backs are not a matter of not caring about employees or families it's a matter of what's best for the entire company which employ a lot more then just 1 station. There is no company in this industry that makes a foot print in an area and just pulls out without a lot of care and concern. I'm very surprised they stayed open this long and in Brandon...maybe if they were in Virden, but Brandon never made any sense to begin with.
