In this thread, I wish to discuss the positives/negatives of designing a "Granny Suite". Are you a home owner who has gone through the process of building a "Granny Suite"?  
 
Lets discuss the process - avenues you utilized - grants available - pros/cons/construction companies you would advise/costs etc . . . .  
 
Has it been a viable decision? Have there been problems?

you can only have one in the house, it can only be 40% of the rest of the house.

I'm wondering if moving tiny homes onto the property is considered a secondary suite?  
 
Also curious if someone can move into your garage or large shed?

They are pretty neat, in the South. Have you ever seen one up here in Manitoba? I would think not. As with trying to live in a trailer in the winter, how do you live in a tiny home, when it is -20? The one's on the show never have insulation, waterlines that won't freeze, etc.

I'm just looking for the information that the city put out...or isn't there any? There has to be guidelines somewhere.

is really very simple. If it's built properly, you will have no concerns about heat, temperature, winter or summer weather. Living in a tiny is the easy part  
 
The hard part is finding a place to put your tiny.
