We have one its with Hilton I think there pretty decent we haven't used it in 2 years thinking about selling it but up in air we have gone to Vegas lots as well bunch other places we can use ours on RCI as well and out points we can keep from year before so can get lots points to go places who else has time shares and do you like it

Hi, yes we have a timeshare in Vegas, must be nearly 20 years now. We love it and use it every winter, wouldn't change it for the world. Best investment we ever made.

Didn't see the value in a time share. We can jump on a cruise ship for $400 pp for a week

Do you get a deal on a cruise like that?

We actually have three time shares. We own here in MB at Elkhorn, Orlando and one in Mexico. It gives us the opportunity to exchange with RCI points, HSI, RCI weeks and Interval International. We can also exchange for Sheraton pints which I love because we can use hotel nights at any Sheraton hotel which comes in handy for work.  
 
The only problem we have is having enough time to use them all so we tend to carry over quite often.  
 
Depending on what your initial investment was, I am not ure you will be able to extract a great deal of value if you sell.

why they have to do free seminars to find/bait potential buyers. Shouldn't they sell by themselves? we went through one in Vegas for a couple of free tickets to a show.  
I think they are bad investment but each to their own.

They could be a terrible investment if you buy high, get locked into high maintenance fees or poor exchange programs, or worse... don't use them.  
 
But for those of us who use them regularly, we definitely get our moneys worth

Is anyone making money off these purchases? If not, it's not an 'investment' per se, no matter how useful they may be.

We attended one seminar at Orlando. They were very pushy to sell and I really did not think it was a good idea or good use of our money. Without being in timeshare , I can have freedom to travel to any destination with any flight and book any hotel that is good at the time and I want to go. But with time share my choices are limited. I am o.k buying vacation property that is just for myself but sharing it with some other people, I do not think so.

The purchase price of the time share would determine how much value you're getting out of it. I know my parents lucked out and bought one for only $900 once. The other two weeks that they own cost $4,000 and $3,000 each. You pay yearly maintenance fees and a price when you book a trip. (About $250 each)  
 
Years ago when I travelled with them I sat through one of those sales pitches in Florida. They wanted almost $15,000 for a week. If you can buy in at a low price point, and if you make use of them (my parents are retired), then they can be a great way to travel!  
 
They've used time shares in many US States, Portugal, Spain, Australia, and other destinations!
