i went to walmart today little busy sadly had to wait to park as the person sitting in the handicapped parking spot with no permit needed to finish her mcdonalds and the other person with no permit felt his wife should not walk to far  
 
ok people a permit that we pay for is needed to park in these spots they are for the disabled not the lazy or i will just be 1 minute people  
 
start usuing your heads and stay out of the handicap spots clearly marked with a blur sign or a wheel chair sign

It's sad saw a woman in an suv take up 2 handicap spaces at superstore yesterday. I mean why do people think they have the right. If she hadn't left so quickly after she saw me reaching for my phone I would have gotten her plate number and post it. Maybe these people have no shame.

These able people in the handicapped spots are much more important than the rest of us.

These people that park in a Handicap spot that shouldn't, are the same people that park in Fire Lanes and no parking spots in front of stores. All they care about is themselves.

but I have seen vehicles with a permit handicap parking in handicap zone to get out of their vehicle and walking fine meaning they use that permit (probably family member) to park there.

think you know everyone's health issue, just because they can walk. Can you see asthma in a person? No, you can't, perhaps they can't walk far without having a sticker. Now, of they do have stickers, they need to display them properly.  
 
I know a few people that look fine, but have serious health conditions.

There are some with handicap signs that I don't understand. They need preferential parking near the doors, but can wander around the store for an hour. How does that work ?

Not all illnesses are visible from the outside.  
 
Someone may be in pain when they walk. Someone may have dizzy spells. Someone might have MS and be having issues in come-and-go spurts. Someone may get extreme soreness from walking too far.  
 
They have those passes for a reason. You can't get one just because.

The OP was talking about people parking in designated handicapped parking without having or showing the card. They were not talking about people with the permit and not seeing a disability. Not right, no excuse, should be ticketed.

Until you need and use a handicap permit, think about all the people who do. They may look healthy, but you can't see all the pain and limits that affect some people.  
Those that park in the handicap spots without a permit should be towed or reported.  
At the present time, we have more than one disabled( medically) person in our family, but only one vehicle. We are separately in possession of more than one permit and carry them in the one vehicle. Only one of us displays our disability visibly, but doesn't mean the others in the vehicle are using that person's permit. There are many reasons you see what looks like able bodied people using a handicap permit, but they most likely have it in their name which means their doctor wrote a medical form out for them to be approved for it.  
We do monthly shopping in Bdn and after driving both ways (45 mins. each way) we are in much pain from trying to get the shopping done all in one day.It takes 2-3 days to get back to a level of pain we can live with.  
Yes there may be people who use others permit to park closer, but that isn't always the case. Please pause and think about this the next time you are upset because you can't get a parking spot next to the front doors.

Are not always based in reality. I know numerous healthy support workers who park in the disabled parking spots and enter businesses, clinics etc to pick up disabled clients.  
It is not unheard of for people who escort disabled clients to forget to display the permit and no it isn''''t always displayed at all times as staff may also support/escort individuals who do not require disabled parking.  
concider giving the benefit of the doubt and some people might concider easing up on the "letter of the law" what about the person who being concider ate of those with a permit see''''s a spot and stops for 2 minutes to help thief elderly grandparent etc just released from hospital with a broken leg out of the car before moving to a non handicapped space?  
I myself have had a "Good Samaritan self proclaimed bylaw hobbiest" approach me as I pulled in for no more than a minute to help my wife who had a catheter in her following an emergency c section out before I could move the car. I find it interesting that the elderly gentleman in a wheel chair in the next spot over was empathetic, cordial and more tolerant than the able bodied self proclaimed advocate for the disabled community.  
I''m not saying able bodied people don''t use these spots for their own interests but sometimes it''s hard to see reality way up there on a high horse.  
I highly doubt any of the advocates for the rights of disabled car owners have ever or would ever approach someone with a pass being helped from the car right in front of superstore and offer their own spot in the stall right next to the occupied disabled spots though. At the end of the day the rule of (by)law and opportunities to judge others without sufficient evidence dressed up under the auspices of concern for the welfare of others is so much more prevalent than true human decency/compassion and concern for your neighbours well being in this day and age.

I know is that there's an aweful lot of handicap spaces in parking lots these days. With obesity rates going up in our younger generations I can only imagine the demand for handicap spaces to go up as well. People are people and we judge each other all the time as it's human nature. When I see someone parking in a handicap spot and hoping out of their car/truck to walk briskly to go into a store I automatically asume that they're using the system for a closer parking spit to the door, wether they have a sign or not. A true handicap in my eyes would need the assisstance of a walking aid like a wheelchair, cane, walker, etc. I know I'll get flack here, but if the person feels good that day and doesn't require a walking aid then maybe they should park in a normal parking space like the rest of us.

u may have good days you dont need the permit so let others us the spot kinda thing  
 
but anyway way to many got this off topic its all about people with no permit usuing the spot thats it

It would be nice if life was as easy as that. Not every disability requires a walking aid. I have ME (or commonly known as chronic fatigue syndrome) and I have a disability permit. I don't need a cane, but have used a motorized wheel chair in a store. I take frequent rests during my shopping times too. You probably wouldn't even know that I'm doing that, since Im very careful not to be noticed. I do still have an illness that requires the permit, and I need it.  
 
Not every disability is easily seen. Personally, noone should judge the use of a permit. Doctors have to support the application for a permit, and their knowledge is much more than ours.

If you dared to even give my mother the evil eye just because she doesn't always use a cane or her walker to transfer from car to store I'd tell you to better educate yourself on different disabilities.  
 
There are some people that have had multiple surgeries on their legs for poor circulation, asthma and COPD, etc. and they need the parking passes that they pay for and don't need to justify ANYTHING to YOU. Enjoy your day

If you don't have a parking space or have a parking pass, then don't worry about it.  
 
Mind your own business and go about your shopping. My mother-in-law had a pass and never once did she complain all the spots at any store were always full. She didn't need a cane, a walker, a scooter, but had a illness that prevented her from walking far. She would always get a cart to lean on while she shopped.  
So, since some of you can't see her illness, you would have thought she should not be parking there. Well she is now bed ridden.  
 
So, go about your own business and don't worry about what others do.  
 
In my opinion, pregnant mother's spots are the most useless, they could probably use the exercise. But, I never notice who is parking there, who gets out, if they look pregnant. Long as I can park somewhere, walk, get my shopping done and get back to my car without seeing any new dents in it, I could care less you parks where, not my business.

For your info, I also have a disability. I have a bum knee that's been diagnosed by professinals. I could easily choose to get a "handicap parking" sign if I wanted to, but most days I'm able to walk to and from the store pain free. If I required a walking aid then I'd probably get it. But because I choose not to use the system I often wonder how many are like me and don't get a sign because we don't need a walking aid although we experience discomfort and pain at times. Went off topic again, but like others have said, no sign, no parkie!

is when you see delivery driver's big vans park in handicap. At one of the banks here they would get catered meal delivered and the caterer would park in one of two handicapped parking spots.

I am handicapped & have proper permit. I along with others fed up with people who are very healthy but seem to be so lazy feel they are entitled to use those parking spaces. I now phone City Police give them location & PLATE NUMBER, they do deal with them. I also take picture of the vehicle showing the plate. Please everyone who sees these people parking there start phoning the police. We who need these spots appreciate it.

For those who think people with handicap passes abuse their privileges. You do realize that a medical professional has to approve your permit.. Right? You have to prove your disability and pay $$ for it. It's not like just anybody on the street can walk in and get one. I don't have one, but a family member of mine does.. Not all her disabilities are not visible to the naked eye, but trust me they are there and she needs that permit.. Don't judge a book by the cover and don't judge why or why they don't have a pass. For example last week, she switched cars and left her handi pass in a different car and accidentally parked in a spot without one. Things happen.

Sooo frustrating....as I have taken people out with the parking pass and saw many a time someone sitting there eating, waiting for someone, and on phone...  
Love the idea of taking pics and posting plates of the actual person in the car...did they forget their passes that day...doubt it.  
ALSO. according to the parking permit application, they are not supposed to be permanently on your visor as it is a driving obstruction...only to be put up when you park...

To the clinic for a doctor's appt. He has a handicapped sign which I put on my mirror. I went to pick him up and parked in a handicapped space. Was worried I would be questioned walking in. But I only parked there because I had to walk him out to the car. I'm not handicapped but he is on oxygen and is pretty feeble. You don't know what their reason is for parking there. As long as they have a handicapped sign they probably shouldn't be questioned. But I agree with no sign, no parking.

The whole point of the pass is so you can transfer it to another vehicle.  
 
If I'm a wheelchair user and I go somewhere with my friend I can take my pass and park in a handicap spot with their car. The passes are for the people who need them not the vehicle.

That would probably solve many instances where someone having bought a permit going to the mall with someone else, but why can't they just be droped off at the door and the driver parks somewhere else and doesn't take up a valuable handicap space that someone else may need. Also, don't you think that a plate and sign could lead toneven more abuse? Mom or dad lending to son or friend as they don't really need it routinely as they have a handicap plate. I somehow think that this may (in some cases at least) end up being loaned and borrowed quite often. Doctors often provide medication to patients who then sell their drugs for extra cash. The handicap signs may or may not be sold, but I think they'd be shared regularly by some people.  
Really, the sign works well. You forget it and are with a friend, then they drop you off at the door and they park in a nom handicap space. No signee, no parkie! It's simple!
