Time to Return the Favour

Have you ever wondered who took care of the East End Community Centre for the last 17 years? Or who made sure there was ice on the rink every winter? Or that someone was there to open and close the doors and take care of the skates being signed out for those who don't have skates? They put in over 2000 hours a year at the East end community centre. That's almost a full time job!
Have you wondered who has been volunteering their time at Ditchfields in the East end to open up Crow's General store for everyone to enjoy? It is this sweet couple who gives so much to their community, asking nothing in return.

Their names are Peter & Dana Nissen.
These 2 set out on an anniversary trip to Alberta to get away for the first time in 10 years and while away, Dana has suffered two major strokes and has underwent surgery in Calgary. I'm not sure when they'll be home, but they need our help.
Now I'm asking for Brandon to return the favour. Please take a moment to donate to Peter & Dana's Stroke Fund, even $5 helps. This may be a long road ahead and anything helps.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I donated, it wasn't much but hope it helps. I love the Crow's General store and the community centre is one of the only things these children have to look forward to in the winter. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Both are the best at doing for others. Typical Canadians from my age group do volunteer. Peter and Dana are far and above that,

longtime east end volunteer in need of help

Many of you know Peter and Dana from the many volunteer activities they have done in the east end for many years. Dana and Peter left this week on their first holiday in 10 years, sadly Dana has suffered a major stroke while in Alberta. She is currently in foothills hospital in Calgary with Peter by her side. A gofund me page has been setup on Facebook to help with the costs. Search Dana Austin and you'll find it. You can read more details on the gofund me page but when we talked with Peter he asked for people to pray for Dana.

If you are questioning if this is true, I can assure you it is. I spoke with Peter myself and unfortunately, it is true.

In less than 4 days Go Fund Me for Dana and her unfortunate situation has raised over $9000 to help ease financial burden for Peter, Dana and family while still in the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
