We are looking to fix up our current gravel driveway. We need to scrape out and grade our existing driveway then lay some new gravel down. Does anyone know of any companies or individuals that do this type of work? Thanks

As far as I know driveways must be asphalt or cement.

New driveways or additions must be paving stones, cement or asphalt. Can't do gravel anymore

Yes we are in the cityabd the driveway is not new. It's an existing gravel driveway just want to put more gravel down. Where is the regulations that specify the materials that can be used in driveways?

for a permit, and pay for the permit, you are told what kind of material that must be used. Someone from the city comes to have a look at all your plans and then approves of your plan.

Our neighbour had an existing gravel driveway and they just put new gravel down, so it can be done. We live in the city

what does it cost to put in the different types of driveways? We are in Souris but I expect it would run about the same cost. Right now ours is white stone but it needs to be either added to or changed. It sounds like there must be a lot of experience on this subject in Brandon so hope you don't mind if I step in on the convo.

If I remember correctly (it's been quite a few years) it was 1500 for asphalt, 12feet wide by 37 feet.  
 
I imagine the cost will have gone up.

But if someone wants a new driveway I'm pretty sure that gravel is not an option. That would be a whole lot easier on the pocketbook

I live in a small town and I had a guy stop yesterday to see if we want asphalt for our drive way since they are already in town. He said 80 per yard. Estimated our driveway would be about $4000 at approximately 50 feet by 20 feet. Would love to get it done but it's out of our budget until we sell our other house.  
 
I've heard that it is cheaper if they are already in town doing streets or other people's driveways than if you get them to come out just for you.
