Hello!  
 
Has anyone bought a dishwasher in the few hundred dollar range recently? If so, what type did you buy and how do you like it?  
 
I am looking for a new dishwasher for a senior, so I am trying to find one that cleans dishes fairly well, doesn't take hours and hours to run and isn't overly high priced.

we ever had was an old Whirlpool in a house we bought in '05. My only advice is to buy extended warranty since appliances don't last like they used to - electronics quit!  
To decide which brand to buy last time, went by reviews. Worked well for a few years.

Asking an appliance repair company if any brand less troublesome than others.

I bought an inexpensive Amana, and would have been easier to wash the dishes by hand. Had to basically clean them first anyway. Replaced it with the least expensive Bosch and love this one! It's a bit more money than other brands but worth it! I would just do some research on reviews of dishwashers.

Good luck getting a Bosch for a few hundred dollars! If you want a quiet dishwasher that does a good job you will need to spend more. Last year we found a good Boxing Day sale and picked up a Samsung for $450. Its super quiet. Time will tell if it lasts I guess.

A year ago in May. It has been a very good dishwasher and it is extremely quiet. Our bedroom is on the same floor as the kitchen and it's so quiet you can't hear it is running at all. We run it at night so it's very important that it's quiet. Now it was more expensive cause it's also SS inside and out. However it has been my experience over the years that a better grade of dishwasher cleans and is also quiet. I have never had to "redo" the dishes in the morning. That i:ncludes cheese from the night before a supper or oatmeal from the breakfast the day before. We are very happy with how it is working.... And it's quiet!!

I have a Kenmore that is actually a Bosch. Just re-labled. It's great. Quiet. It does take a while to run a cycle, but that's a small thing IMHO.

have a stainless electolux and I hate it. Doesn't stack dishes that great and doesn't clean that great either.

plus tax on a Labour Day sale on the Brick online.  
 
From what I heard and read, Bosch was the way to go, and luckily I was able to order one for a decent price.
