Currently, Manitoba’s Highway Traffic Act states that local governments can create by-laws to provide for the right of way of processions.
The general rule is that once the lead vehicle in the procession has ensured that it is safe to proceed, the procession may proceed through a red light or stop signs. Other motorists are to give the right of way to the vehicles in the procession.
dont forget the rest of the info, while i would stop for a funeral procession, i have no idea what Brandons Bi-laws are regarding them, plus other provinces dont have the same rules regarding funeral processions (i never heard of it until I moved to MB)so while it might be respectful and such a general rule isnt something that everyone knows or is even taught once so it might be that the driver thought someone ran the light
i know some provinces use purple lights and im glad MB changed the laws to allow for usage but still people probably just eed a bit of education
