Does anyone know what is causing the very strong smoke smell in the south end? Has anyone else noticed it?

Possibly smoke from a wood burning fire place?

It was burning manure. No big deal.

Burning manure is illegal...

Just had to take some allergy medication for the smoke. Feel bad for all the people with copd or asthma tonight!

That's funny, we burn ours and we live out of city limits. Show me where it's illegal in documentation. Get real.

Page 5 section 4 - burning manure is prohibited. Don't know about your municipal bylaws though.

Regardless of whether it's illegal or not... it sure stinks. I have been able to smell it for hours.... this dry air does not help either, just seems to linger longer.

Where there is the smoke, there is the fire!  
 
Burnt manure.. I've smelled worse things, in this life.

It is also illegal to burn manure in the RM of Cornwallis.. Says so right on their website

Why not spread it on the garden or a field?

This post makes me think of the "Cheech and Chong" movie "Up in smoke"... "Hey man... We're smoken' $h!t? ...Man That's some heavy $h!t ...Man Awwwww man... I wonder what Great Dane would tast like?... Awwwww man... How's my driving? ...Man" LOL.  
 
...Sorry. Had a 70's "drive in" flashback. Those were some crazy movies, back then. They've laid the foundation for all these "low brow comedies" we see today to happen. There would never be "The hangover", "Superbad", "American Pie" and countless others if it weren't for Cheech and Chong.  
 
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Under The Livestock Manure and Mortalities Management Regulation under The Environment Act in Manitoba it is illegal to burn manure.

10.2(1)  
No person shall burn livestock manure at any time unless  
(a) the director has given prior authorization for the burning: and  
(b) the person complies with the terms of the authorization.  
 
The Department only authorizes the burning of manure in an emergency, which doesn't happen very often. I would strongly encourage you to cease burning manure.

may be illegal but we will burn small quantities in the summer for our horses/cattle for smudges for bug relief. There are plenty of people who do it and will continue to do it.  
 
I have never seen this enforced for small burns on private property. We don't light our entire stack on fire mind you, just a few wheelbarrows full usually.
