In fact your post alone is indicating you are singling out a certain "segment"society. That doesn't even make sense. Please feel free to elaborate.

I imagine that some by-laws are highly outdated and are remainders out of the 50's and 60's.  
Across from me live people with at least 5 cars including a huge company vehicle. They park all in from of other peoples houses, legally, including mine. So, when I get home from shift I can't park in from of my own place. So one week I had enough and parked my rv in the street so I can park my car in the driveway.  
Guess what! The bylaw folks hat a ticket on it after pretty much exactly 48 hours.  
 
There's no exemptions on anything in this town and dispute the fact that my rv is safetied, registered and insured, I get a ticket. So, because this happened on a Friday at 3pm I called the city to find out about this bylaw and wouldn't you know it? It's a nice summer day and they're all gone for the weekend. A joke!  
 
I finally, on Monday, get a hold of somebody and he spoon feeds me a bunch of legal mambojambo...outdated laws..blah blah blah.. the fact that I pay taxes and insurances for what I own doesn't seem to matter when I want to  
park in front of MY OWN house.  
 
I know this is like this in many towns but it's absolutely outdated and stems from a time when there was 1 car per household. Maybe even 2. But not 5 or 6.

get their panties in a bunch about the parking bylaw adherence?? Is there a lack of parking on your street? Or is it simply that there is a 48 rule and rules are rules? Or perhaps you just don't like the neighbor or what he hangs on his windows??  
I have lived in the same house for over 30 years. I have a complete douche bag that moved in to the house down the street 5 years ago that has likely responded to this very thread. Our block has very few home owners who park on either side of the street and from my home to the end of the block where this dick lives there are ZERO home owners who park on the street with ample parking for this neighbor to park in front of his home or any other for that matter and for a dozen guests to park their vehicles as well.  
Despite no end to available parking this ass hat has called bylaw on several occasions because my car has been parked in front of my own home over the weekend. he has a double standard of course and when ive parked on the side street when snow removal signs have been up and parked for less than 6 hours he has come out screaming at my wife for parking on HIS part of the street. This is the same ass who thinks the corner city boulavard is his grass and told my son and his 5 year old sister at the time to walk out in traffic and stay off HIS grass.  
I mean for christ's sake we can go out every 47 hours and move the car less than 6 feet and not be breaking the bylaw.  
Maybe its different for some of you with no drive ways or parking is non existent but if your anything like my neighbor or the guy who measures his neighbor by what he hangs in the window well your just a dick.

The bylaw actually reads "vehicle has to be moved through the nearest intersection". It's a really environmentally friendly bylaw...  
In my book it is absolutely silly. I've lived in places where the only parking was out in the street. So, i had to come up with a plan if I wanted to leave town without my own car. It's just dumb. I don't get the fuzz over it and there is no rhyme or reason why a street legal, insured car with plates can't park in the same spot for the time the owner deems it necessary.  
 
In my opinion, for the most part, it's envy. Plain and simple.

99% of people wont call about the situations described above. If you read the thread its about a person who has left cars and equipment on the street for months at a time, affecting snow clearing and the safe passage of others on the street.  
 
I agree, the guy you are talking about sounds like a dick.

I know that it's about a person storing their junk in the street. The bylaw doesn't discriminate between him and me tho.
